Is Jordan safe for travel? That was the question I was constantly asked before my trip in November 2024. And YES, Jordan is safe. I felt completely safe the entire time. There is hardly any violent crime and it will be extremely hard to find a report of something happening to a tourist. I felt much safer in Jordan than I do in the United States as well as some European cities. Everyone is so friendly and they are truly invested in you enjoying their country.

Decrease in Tourism
There has been a huge decrease in tourism and I discussed this with multiple tour guides during my stay. Most people said there has been a 70% decrease in tourism. A lot of the sites were pretty empty when I was there and they really appreciate the tourists who are still visiting and spending their money there.

Group or Solo Travel?
On this trip, I signed up for a group travel tour through Travel Talk Tours. It was very organized and I had an excellent tour guide. It definitely made it easier to travel throughout Jordan. You can read about my weeklong itinerary here.
That being said, I would absolutely travel to Jordan as a solo female traveler. You could rent a car, pay for a driver, or check out bus schedules to get around Jordan. You can use BusBud to check out bus schedules. From Amman to Petra, it is around $26 USD.
Overall Thoughts
I had an incredible trip and would not hesitate to go again. Petra is one of my favorite places in the world and everyone should see it in their lifetime. I loved staying the night in the Wadi Rum desert and watching the colors change from sunrise to sunset. I had excellent hospitality and I am so glad I ignored the negative comments and went ahead with my plans.
